The real responses to the most common hesitations.
Objections are not obstacles — they are questions in disguise. Someone who raises an objection is engaged enough to care. The goal is not to overcome resistance but to answer honestly and let them decide. The responses below are not scripts. They are starting points for genuine conversation.
"Is this an MLM?"
Yes. doTERRA uses a direct-sales model where independent members share the products and earn a commission when people they introduce also buy. It is not a get-rich-quick scheme, and the large majority of members simply use the products at wholesale price. The business model exists because the most effective way to share these oils is person-to-person — through education, not advertising.
"I can't afford it."
The wholesale membership starts with a minimum order — usually around the cost of two or three bottles of oil. If cost is a genuine barrier, start with a retail purchase of just one oil. The membership makes sense once you know you'll keep buying. There's no pressure to commit before you're ready.
"Do these actually work?"
The honest answer is: many people find them genuinely useful, and the experience varies person to person. I can tell you what they've done for me and let you try something for yourself. That's a much better answer than anything I could say.
"Are they safe?"
doTERRA oils are third-party tested for purity and potency. Like any concentrated botanical product, they require sensible use — diluting for topical application, and only consuming oils labelled for internal use. The safety guide in the Healer Library covers this in detail.
"I'm not a salesperson."
Neither are most of the people who share these oils. You don't need to sell anything. You share what you use, you answer questions honestly, and if someone wants to buy, you help them get wholesale access. That's the whole job.
"I'll think about it."
That's completely fine. Here's what I'd suggest: take this oil home, try it this week, and if it helps, come back to me. There's no decision to make today.
The most powerful thing you can say when you do not know the answer is: "I don't know — let me find out for you." Honesty builds more trust than a polished answer ever will.
